WHAT IS TAE KWON DO?

Taekwondo is one of the most Systematic Korean traditional Martial Arts that teaches more than Physical Self Defense Skills. It is a disipline that shows ways of enhancing our Spirit and Life through the training of the Body & Mind.
Today, it become a Global Sport that has gained an International Reputation and stands among the official games in the Olympics. Tae Kwon Do Sparring has been selected as official sports for Sydney, Athens Olympics and also for Beijing 2008 and 2012 London Olympic Games.
Taekwondo has an International Headquarter which is Kukkiwon.Kukkiwon(국기원; 國技院), also known as World Taekwondo Headquarters, and home of the World Taekwondo Academy, is the official taekwondo governing organisation established by the South Korean government. It is supervised by the International Sports Division of the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.
It is also supported with The World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) is the International Federation (IF) member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for the competition events of the martial art of Taekwondo. International Federations (IFs) are international non-governmental organisations recognised by the IOC as administering one or more sports at world level.
Only Kukkiwon officially certifies Tae Kwon Do Black Belt Degree ( from 1st ~ 9th Dan). Thus, when the KS WTMA students obtain Black Belt ; He / She will get a Kukkiwon Certificate and be recognized as a Black Belt at any other Tae Kwon Do School in the world & won’t be back to Beginner Color Belt anymore.
